In 2023, Delmonte signed a manufacturing tie-up with Hungary-based energy drink producer HELL to produce energy drink brands in India. The new CAN filling and packaging line of rated speed 18,000 CAN/hour was awarded to Rapid BevTech after thorough evaluation. The Challenge
Compact footprint requirement with high-speed production within existing area. Energy drink carbonation demands ultra-precise CO2 control. Layout designing was the key challenge due to space constraints. Required 3-way changeover capability for CAN sizes 250ml/300ml/355ml.
Our Approach
Engineered compact line layout maximizing floor space utilization with smart layout making 3 different changeovers possible for CAN sizes 250ml/300ml/355ml. Integrated Camera-based Empty CAN Inspector (ECI) checking flange, body, and inside particles — rejects any abnormal CAN with statistical data recording and downloadable inspection records. Flow liner installed post-ECI before Rinser removes any fallen CANs automatically. Semi-automatic lid feeding system handles approximately 2,000 lids with floor-level operation. Equipped with fully automated Rapid make Carbo Mixer with online Brix and CO2 monitoring and control to deliver precise Brix and CO2 levels consistently, achieving gas volume of 6.2 grams/litre filled at 8°C. Separate factory-set rinsers installed for all different CAN sizes to avoid any setting difficulties and changeover issues, with rinse water recovery tank. Shrink packer supports double/single lane operation with printed and non-printed film at 30 cycles/min with well-synchronized 2-sensor SINC conveying ensuring very low pressure conveying without damage to printed CANs. Operator, technician, and engineer training was carried out on all machines. CAN line equipment supplied and installed in Dec 2023, with commissioning to ramp-up achieved within 4 days.
